Yoghurt surprise

Here's a yoghurt that has no disease-promoting animal protein, cholesterol, less than 1 gram saturated fat per serve, no lactose and has health-promoting omega-3 fatty acids, phytochemicals and dietary fibre, and is made less than 10 km from where we live! Plus, I think it tastes good.

The "trick"? It's a soy yoghurt. I probably would never have tried it if I hadn't read online someone else saying how soy yoghurts taste surprisingly similar to dairy ones. I was skeptical, but I have to agree now. The first mouthful, I noticed it wasn't the same as dairy yoghurt, but after that it is surprising how little difference there is. I'm a convert! The brand I like - King Land - is shown in the photo below. I found it at the local supermarket in the yoghurt section, but Mrs VM says it depends on the shop, so could be near tofu etc.
